BBC digital chief stepping down in organizational revamp

BritishBroadcasting Corp. Digital Director is stepping down after thepublic broadcaster made his post redundant in line with a cost-cuttingorganizational restructure, Broadcast reportedApril 13.

Rivera will reportedly work on a six-month temporaryassignment to explore the BBC's role as a British educationplatform. He may have a permanent job after the project or choose to leave thebroadcaster.

The BBC combined its digital, engineering and technologyteams in early April, with Chief Technology Officer Matthew Postgate set tolead the unified division. It is part of efforts to save £800 million over thenext six years, according to the report.

The broadcaster has also been working to its commissioning structure asenvisioned by Director General Tony Hall.
