Kemper announces Q1 catastrophe losses estimate

Kemper Corp.on April 4 said it estimates that its first-quarter results will include pretaxcatastrophe losses in the range of $35 million to $45 million.

The company does not expect to recover any of these losses underits catastrophe reinsurance program. While the losses were related to a number ofstorms, the company noted that one hailstorm in north Texas on March 23 heavilyimpacted its policyholders in that area.
