Universal Coal Plc updated the ore reserve at its Kangala coal project in South Africa to 35.9 million tonnes, an increase of 23.7 Mt over the previous estimate.
The Wolvenfontein property hosts 11.3 Mt of coal, and Middelbult hosts 24.7 Mt, according to an Oct. 11 release.
The increase was achieved as mineral resources at Middelbult were converted to ore reserves.
Kangala hosts a JORC 2012-compliant mineral resource of 108.5 Mt, of which 61.2 Mt is classified as measured, 15 Mt as indicated and 32.3 Mt as inferred.
