Georgia Power to pass along 2nd installment of tax reform savings to customers

Georgia Power Co. customers will receive a total bill credit of $96 million in June as a second installment of federal tax savings, according to a June 4 company news release.

An average residential customer using 1,000 kWh per month will see an $18 refund on their bill. As part of a settlement with the Georgia Public Service Commission staff in March 2018, the Southern Co. subsidiary agreed to relay back credits totaling $330 million to its customers in three installments.

The first installment of $131 million credit was distributed in October 2018, while the last installment of $103 million credit will be distributed in February 2020.
