Standard Chartered PLC has appointed Vishu Ramachandran group head of retail banking, a newly created role.

Ramachandran, who has three decades of banking experience, most recently was global chief risk officer of retail banking at the British lender.

In his new role, Ramachandran will help strengthen Standard Chartered's retail banking presence in Asia, Africa and the Middle East. He will take up his new role July 16.
