Eurozone retail sales rose for the third consecutive month, gaining 0.1% in April on a seasonally adjusted basis after an upwardly revised 0.4% growth in March, Eurostat said.
Food, drinks and tobacco sales slid 0.7% from the previous month, while sales of non-food products, except automotive fuel, climbed 1.7%. Sales of automotive fuel in specialized stores fell 0.8%.
On a year-over-year basis, the calendar-adjusted retail sales index increased by 1.7% in April following an upwardly revised 1.5% annual rise in March.
