Duke Energy launches Mickey Mouse-shaped solar farm

Duke Energy FloridaInc. launched the 5-MW ReedyCreek solar facility designed in the shape of Mickey Mouse, the subsidiary saidApril 12.

The project was announcedin 2015 and is made up of 48,000 solar panels installed on 22 acres of land nearEpcot Center Drive at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Fla.

Reedy Creek ImprovementDistrict will purchase the output of the facility under a 15-year contractto help meet the power needs of Walt Disney World Resort and its other customers,such as Four Seasons Resort and the hoteliers along Hotel Plaza Boulevard.
