Sankyo fiscal Q3 profit climbs YOY

Sankyo Co. Ltd. said its normalized net income for the fiscal third quarter ended Dec. 31, 2014, came to ¥105.96 per share, an increase from ¥17.14 per share in the prior-year period.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was ¥9.93 billion, an increase from ¥1.60 billion in the prior-year period.

The normalized profit margin climbed to 13.0% from 5.5% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue increased year over year to ¥76.67 billion from ¥28.91 billion, and total operating expenses climbed from the prior-year period to ¥60.90 billion from ¥26.86 billion.

Reported net income rose on an annual basis to ¥11.16 billion, or ¥119.04 per share, from ¥1.85 billion, or ¥19.78 per share.

As of Feb. 12, US$1 was equivalent to ¥118.90.
