Dentsu Aegis to buy digital marketing agency DWA

Dentsu Aegis Network Ltd. has agreed to acquire 100% of U.S. digital media and marketing agency David Wood & Associates Inc.

The acquisition of DWA is expected to give a boost to data marketing firm Merkle Inc., in which Dentsu Aegis acquired a majority stake in 2016. Post-deal completion, DWA employees will join Merkle and the former will be rebranded "DWA, a Merkle company."

DWA was founded in March 1996 and is based in San Francisco, with eight more offices worldwide. It provides business-to-business digital performance and marketing services to companies in the technology sector, including Cisco Systems Inc., NetApp Inc., Oracle Corp. and Sprint Corp.

The deal, terms of which were not disclosed, comes weeks after Dentsu Aegis agreed to acquire digital marketing agency Swirl Inc. and Indonesian digital performance marketing company PT Valuklik.

Dentsu Aegis Network is the global business hub of Japanese advertising conglomerate Dentsu Inc.
