Bangladesh's central bank removed NRB Commercial Bank Ltd.'s managing director over gross irregularities, including corruption, The Daily Star reported Dec. 6.
Bangladesh Bank removed Dewan Mujibur Rahman as NRB Commercial Bank's managing director over irregularities, such as signature forgery and the interference of outsiders in the bank's board. A spokesperson from the central bank confirmed the removal.
Rahman also did not inform the central bank about the irregularities and when the central bank presented him with show-cause notices, he provided wrong information to misguide the authorities, a central bank official said.
