L-3 Communications Holdings Inc. said its normalized net income for the fourth quarter was $1.76 per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of $2.10 per share.
EPS climbed year over year from $1.73.
Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was $139.1 million, a gain from $136.0 million in the year-earlier period.
The normalized profit margin declined to 4.7% from 4.7% in the year-earlier period.
Total revenue grew on an annual basis to $2.99 billion from $2.87 billion, and total operating expenses increased from the prior-year period to $2.72 billion from $2.61 billion.
Reported net income came to $188.1 million, or $2.38 per share, compared with a loss of $60.6 million, or a loss of 77 cents per share, in the prior-year period.
For the year, the company's normalized net income totaled $6.75 per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus normalized EPS estimate of $7.94.
EPS rose from $5.59 in the prior year.
Normalized net income was $532.3 million, a gain from $457.5 million in the prior year.
Full-year total revenue amounted to $10.51 billion, compared with $10.47 billion in the prior year, and total operating expenses came to $9.49 billion, compared with $9.56 billion in the year-earlier period.
The company said reported net income increased 129.6% year over year to $646.9 million, or $8.21 per share, in the full year, from $281.7 million, or $3.44 per share.
