Aetna Inc. will pull out of the Iowa individual health insurance market under the Affordable Care Act for 2018 because of "financial risk and an uncertain outlook for the marketplace," Bloomberg News reported, citing an email from Aetna spokesman T.J. Crawford.
The company is still considering its 2018 individual product presence in other states, according to the report.
Aetna's decision follows that of Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield, which earlier announced that it will not sell or renew individual and family ACA plans in the state with a Jan. 1, 2018, effective date.
