American Electric Power seeks coal supply bids

American Electric Power Co. Inc. issued a request for proposals Aug. 21 seeking the supply of coal to one or more of its coal-fired power plants.

AEP seeks 1.3 million tonnes of Powder River Basin coal for the fourth quarter. The company seeks 350,000 tonnes of Central Appalachian Basin coal and 2 million tonnes of Powder River Basin coal for the first quarter of 2020.

AEP is seeking proposals for 250,000 tonnes of Northern Appalachian Basin coal in 2020.

In 2021, AEP is requesting proposals for 750,000 tonnes of Central Appalachian Basin coal, 1.5 million tonnes of Powder River Basin coal, 250,000 tonnes of Illinois Basin coal and 250,000 tonnes of Northern Appalachian Basin coal.

In 2022, AEP is seeking 750,000 tonnes of Central Appalachian Basin coal, 1.5 million tonnes of Powder River Basin coal, 500,000 tonnes of Illinois Basin coal and 1.5 million tonnes of Northern Appalachian Basin coal.

Proposals must be emailed to aepfuelsrfp@aep.com by 5 p.m. on Sept. 4 and are to be kept open until 5 p.m. on Sept. 17.
