Microsoft taps Vattenfall to help power data centers with renewable energy

Microsoft Corp. is working with Vattenfall AB to power its future data centers in Sweden with 100% renewable energy.

The collaboration also includes development of innovative solutions to reduce Microsoft's carbon footprint, according to a May 29 news release.

"Vattenfall Distribution as the regional network owner will construct and build the distribution infrastructure required to connect the large-scale facilities," said Andreas Regnell, senior vice president of strategy at Vattenfall.
