Canadian Metals Inc. said Aug. 15 that it signed a letter of intent to sell up to 5,000 tons of silica fume byproducts from its silicon alloy plant in Baie-Comeau, Quebec, to a Canadian cement producer.
The tonnage subject to the agreement represents at least 35% of the expected annual production in the initial phase of the plant.
This letter of intent will serve as a guideline to negotiate a final distribution and operation agreement between the parties.
