Unum Group completes $600M senior notes offering

Unum Grouphas completed a recentsenior debt issuance.

Two tranches of senior notes totaling $600 million in aggregateprincipal amount were issued. The first tranche was for $350 million of 3.00% notesdue 2021, while the second was for $250 million of 5.75% notes due 2042.

The company expects to use the net proceeds for general corporatepurposes and the repayment at maturity of its outstanding 7.125% senior notes duein September.

J.P. Morgan Securities LLC and Barclays Capital Inc. are thejoint book-running managers.

According to the offering's prospectus, Citigroup Global MarketsInc.; Merrill Lynch Pierce Fenner & Smith Inc.; Regions Securities LLC; SunTrustRobinson Humphrey Inc.; U.S. Bancorp Investments Inc.; Wells Fargo Securities LLC;BB&T Capital Markets, a division of BB&T Securities LLC; BNY Mellon CapitalMarkets LLC; and Fifth Third Securities Inc. are co-managers.
