Petmed Express fiscal Q3 profit falls YOY

PetMed Express, Inc. said its normalized net income for the fiscal third quarter ended Dec. 31, 2015, came to 24 cents per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of 24 cents per share.

In the prior-year period, the per-share result came in at a profit of 24 cents.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was $4.8 million, compared with $4.8 million in the year-earlier period.

The normalized profit margin fell to 9.4% from 9.8% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue climbed on an annual basis to $50.9 million from $49.3 million, and total operating expenses grew year over year to $43.3 million from $41.6 million.

Reported net income totaled $4.9 million, or 24 cents per share, compared to $4.8 million, or 24 cents per share, in the prior-year period.
