Nuclear update: Total US output holds steady ahead of more outages

Total U.S. nuclear plant availability nudged higher earlyApril 13 to 85.30%, up from 85.25% on April 12 and still well above the 81.34% postedon the same day in 2015.

Supporting total availability was the full return of 's Quad Cities 2 in Illinois.The unit was operating at 100% power early April 13, up from 90% on April 12.

Production at DominionResources Inc.'s North Anna 2 in Virginia also increased early April13 to 95%, climbing from 72% on April 12.

Offsetting the uptick was a curtailment at Exelon's Byron2 reactor in Illinois. The unit was pegged at 83% early April 13, slipping from97% on April 12.

According to private sources, Duke Energy Corp.'s Oconee 3 in South Carolina and 'sSalem 1 in New Jersey may be shut in the next few days for a refueling outage.
