Consumers Energy collaborates with SunPower for new pilot program in Michigan

Consumers Energy Co. is partnering with SunPower Corp. for a new solar energy pilot program in Michigan.

Through the Solar Distributed Generation pilot program, interested customers may subscribe to install solar energy systems on their rooftops, according to a May 26 company release.

The program will allow subscribers to earn bill credits if they generate excess energy, receive power supply from Consumer's Energy when their solar rooftop systems do not generate electricity and own their rooftop solar system through a cash purchase or loan. All systems come with a 25-year warranty.

Interested customers may learn more about the rooftop solar program at Consumers Energy's website.

SunPower will provide no-cost site assessment, customized system design, quality installation, industry-leading warranty and long-term financing options to interested customers.
