BrookfieldRenewable Energy Partners LP has signed a power purchase agreementwith Facebook Inc. topower a data center under construction in Ireland with wind-generated electricity,according to an April 6 news release.
Brookfield Renewable Energy, with its 465 MW of operatingwind assets in Ireland, will supply Facebook's data center in Clonee, CountyMeath, Ireland, and international headquarters in Dublin, with the equivalentof 150 MW for at least 10 years.
Brookfield Renewable Energy said that along with wind assetsoperating in Ireland, it has more than 200 MW under development. The datacenter under construction is Facebook's second in Europe. Facebook's datacenter in northern Sweden is powered with hydroelectric resources.
