Southern Power wins approval to acquire Invenergy wind plant

FERC on Dec. 30 issued an order authorizing Southern Power Co. to acquire Invenergy LLC's 276-MW Bethel wind facility.

Located in Castro County, Texas, the wind project will sell 225 MW of its output to Google Inc. subsidiary Google Energy under a long-term power contract.

Southern Power is owned by Southern Co. Inc. (FERC docket EC17-26)
