Consolidated Communications to build fiber broadband network in rural town

Consolidated Communications Holdings Inc. will build a high-speed, fiber-to-the-premises internet network in Chesterfield, N.H.

The network will be built in all homes and businesses with no associated property tax increase, according to a March 22 news release.

The news comes after the town voted to enter into a public-private partnership with Consolidated Communications.

Towns in New Hampshire were given the authority to issue bonds for broadband infrastructure when the state passed Senate Bill 170 in 2018, which was sponsored by Sen. Jay Kahn and Rep. John Bordenet.
