Assurant estimates up to $28M in Q2 pretax cat losses

Assurant Inc.expects to record $22 million to $28 million of pretax reportable catastrophe losses,net of reinsurance, related to severe weather events in its specialty property operatingsegment for the second quarter.

The reportable catastrophe losses included floods, wind and hailstorms,with the majority of the losses in Texas.

Additionally, the company has finalized a $1.4 billion property catastrophe reinsuranceprogram for 2016.
