A Starwood Energy Group Global LLC subsidiary is seeking approval from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to acquire two New England gas plants from Dynegy Inc.
Starwood entity Marco DM Holdings filed for approval Aug. 1 to acquire the 188-MW Dighton plant and the 169.8-MW Milford Power CC plant, both in Massachusetts, for $119 million as part of a deal announced July 11.
The transaction fulfills a market power mitigation plan required by FERC when it approved Dynegy's acquisition of the ENGIE North America generation portfolio in 2016. The commission required that Dynegy divest at least 224 MW of generation capacity located in the Southeastern New England capacity zone of ISO New England.
The commission is requested to approve the transaction within 45 days after the filing date of the application. (FERC docket EC17-146)
