Armstrong Energy files to suspend SEC reporting obligations

Armstrong Energy Inc. filed a Form 15 with the SEC on Oct. 5, immediately suspending the company's obligations to file periodic and current reports relating to its 11.75% senior secured notes due 2019 under Sections 13 and 15(d) of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934.

Armstrong missed an interest payment on the notes in June and has entered into several forbearance agreements with the note holders to extend the deadline for payment. The most recent extension expired Sept. 29.

The company warned investors in its second-quarter earnings report that it is likely to default on other debt and faces a real threat of bankruptcy.
