Dufry's Hudson Group to buy 34 Brookstone US airport stores

Travel shop operator Hudson Group (HG) Retail LLC said Oct. 10 that it agreed to acquire assets related to the operation of Brookstone stores in U.S. airports from consumer electronics retailer Apex Digital, Inc.

Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Brookstone is a specialty retailer that sells wellness, entertainment and travel products. Hudson said the deal covers 34 stores, of which 30 are in operation while 33 are in airports where Hudson has existing operations.

"The addition of Brookstone to our already diverse portfolio of branded concepts further strengthens our retail offering and nicely complements our travel convenience business," Hudson Group CEO Roger Fordyce said in a statement.

In addition, Hudson has also secured the right to be Brookstone's exclusive airport retailer through a licensing deal with Bluestar Alliance LLC, which owns the Brookstone brand and trademarks.

Hudson Group is a wholly owned subsidiary of Swiss travel retailer Dufry AG.
