Nokia Corp. won a contract worth up to €500 million from Vodafone India to ramp up the telco's 4G growth across 10 of the country's 22 telecom zones, The Economic Times (India) reported Jan. 26, citing people with knowledge of the matter.
Nokia will deploy and expand Vodafone India's 4G LTE network in the areas of Kolkata, Mumbai, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu-Chennai, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh East, West Bengal, Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, and Himachal Pradesh, according to one of the sources.
Neither company immediately responded to The Economic Times' requests for comment.
Nokia was recently awarded another 4G deployment contract in India by Bharti Airtel Ltd. with a reported value of around $500 million.
