Ford Motor Co. on Oct. 10 issued a recall of approximately 200 GT cars over a fluid leak that can cause fires.
The company said hydraulic fluid in the recalled vehicles may leak from the valve block assembly under the rear wing. The fluid may leak on to the exhaust and may cause a fire.
According to Ford, only a single incident of fire occurred, in Germany, related to the issue. No injuries were reported.
The recall affects the 2017-18 model GT cars manufactured Dec. 20, 2016-July 31, 2018. About 194 vehicles are facing the issue in North America, of which 176 are in the U.S. and the remaining 18 are in Canada.
Dealers will update the software to the fully integrated vehicle controller, which can fix the issue by eliminating the possibility of excessive pressure in the valve block assembly. They will also install a rear wing hydraulic check valve and replace O-rings and filter, if necessary.
