Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Co. appointed Bob Carroll head of workplace distribution.

He will be responsible for executing the workplace distribution strategy, developing sales talent, driving revenue and growing MassMutual's share of the retirement and worksite markets.

Previously, Carroll was at John Hancock Financial Services Inc. as vice president of national sales.

Managed Care

Cigna Corp. appointed Jim Hickey market president for its commercial health care and related benefits plans in South Texas, replacing Mike Koehler, who is retiring.

Based in Houston, Hickey will be responsible for driving market growth and ensuring that local product and network offerings meet evolving customer, client and community needs.

Most recently, Hickey served as vice president of Texas and regional vice president for the South Central Territory Medicare Plans for Aetna Inc.

Assurant Inc. named Kathy McDonald president of global specialty, Keith Meier president of international and Tammy Schultz president of global pre-need, effective Jan. 1, 2019.

COO Gene Mergelmeyer will take over the company's global technology organization, transitioning his business oversight duties to Schultz, global lifestyle President Keith Demmings and global housing President Michael Campbell. Joe Surber will become senior vice president and global technology officer, reporting to Mergelmeyer, effective Jan. 1, 2019.

Chief Technology Officer Ajay Waghray will leave the company, which also announced that its chief risk officer, Christopher Pagano, will retire April 1, 2019. Additionally, R. David Conner will become senior vice president and global head of risk, effective Jan. 1, 2019, according to a company release.

Canopius AG appointed Rachel Sabbarton senior underwriter within the energy team.

She will report to Geoff Tin before succeeding him as head of energy in the summer of 2019.

Previously, Sabbarton was deputy head of energy at Beazley Group Ltd.

Property and casualty

Alliant Insurance Services Inc. appointed Amanda Posey a vice president of the company.

She will provide targeted risk management and insurance solutions to Alliant's regional client base in Orange County, Calif.

Posey most recently served as a director within the Orange County office of a global insurance brokerage firm.

The Lloyd's Market Association's finance committee named Mark Allan, Brit Ltd.'s CFO, as chairman, replacing John Dunn.

Hermien Smeets-Flier, Aegis London's CFO, has been appointed deputy chair, replacing Martin Bride from Beazley PLC.

Hiscox Ltd. appointed Audrey Lau architects and engineers product head in Dallas, effective Nov. 12.

Lau previously served as a product manager for AIG Lexington.

The company also appointed D.J. Postles regional executive for the Southeast in Atlanta, effective Nov. 15.

Postles recently served as a senior vice president and head of the U.S. East region for Swiss Re Corporate Solutions Ltd.

BMS Group Ltd. appointed Duncan Hayward a director in its energy division.

He will join the company in 2019 and will lead the casualty initiative within the energy division.

Previously, Hayward was serving as a divisional director at Price Forbes.

Capsicum Reinsurance Brokers LLP appointed Ed Le Flufy to serve as a specialty broker, with a focus on cyber, and Piers English to serve as a treaty reinsurance broker.

Flufy joins the company from BMS Group, while English was previously at Accenture plc.
