CNBV maintains systemically importance status on 7 Mexican banks

Mexico's banking and securities commission CNBV said that a review in November has confirmed its list of seven Mexican banks considered to be systemically important to the country's financial system.

The banks are: BBVA Bancomer SA Institución de Banca Múltiple Grupo Financiero BBVA Bancomer, Banco Nacional de México SA Integrante del Grupo Financiero Banamex, Banco Santander (México) SA Institución de Banca Múltiple, Banco Mercantil del Norte SA Institución de Banca Múltiple, HSBC México SA Institución de Banca Múltiple Grupo Financiero HSBC, Banco Inbursa SA Institución de Banca Múltiple Grupo Financiero Inbursa and Scotiabank Inverlat SA Institución de Banca Múltiple.

Those financial institutions were previously designated as being systemically important in April, and the CNBV said that the November review resulted in those designations being maintained.

The banks will be reassessed in terms of their systemic importance in April and November of each year, the regulator noted.
