A former ProvidenceHealth & Services employee may have accessed patients' medicalrecords, potentially compromising demographic and medical treatmentinformation, including insurance data and Social Security numbers, the Portland Business Journal reported.
The company has notified patients that an internal audit inMay revealed that the former employee may have unnecessarily viewed medical recordsof about 5,400 current and former patients between July 2012 and April 2016.The company thinks that the former employee did not share the information.Providence Health fired the employee as part of a corrective action plan toaddress the breach, according to the report.
