Google Inc.'s YouTube is taking more action to give advertisers who use the site peace of mind.
Earlier this year, Google apologized for letting ads run alongside offensive content, which led to a defection of advertisers. In April, YouTube changed its policies so that only those channels with at least 10,000 lifetime views will be able to host advertising, and only after undergoing a screening process to ensure the channels meet YouTube's community standards.
In a June 1 official blog post, Ariel Bardin, vice president of product management at YouTube, said that YouTube is working closely with advertising partners to ensure that "YouTube continues to be a great place for creators to earn money." Bardin noted that YouTube has taken a "tougher stance" on hateful content, inappropriate use of family entertainment characters and incendiary and demeaning content in a bid to ensure that ads do not appear alongside questionable or offensive content on the site.
Bardin also said in the blog that many advertisers have resumed their media campaigns on the video-sharing website.
