Goldman Sachs names chief data officer

Goldman Sachs Group Inc. has created two new positions, both under Chief Information Officer Elisha Wiesel, The Wall Street Journal reported.

Jeff Wecker rejoins the company as chief data officer, in which role he will organize and possibly start to sell the data the company collects. Once a derivatives trader for Goldman Sachs, Wecker was most recently with Bridgewater Associates LP.

Goldman Sachs also hired Michael Blum for its electronic-trading group. His LinkedIn profile lists him as a partner and chief technology officer for electronic trading.
