Fairfax Financial Holdings Ltd.'s South Africa-based Bryte Insurance Co. Ltd. unit announced Dec. 1 its acquisition of specie insurer Holmes Underwriting Agency.

Holmes Underwriting, an independent coverholder at Lloyd's of London, will be integrated into Bryte's jewelry, fine art and specie division, effective Dec. 1. The policies of Holmes Underwriting's existing customers will not be affected by the deal.
