Vodafone Ireland Ltd. has teamed up with Ericsson to launch commercial 5G services in parts of the Irish cities of Cork, Dublin, Galway, Limerick and Waterford.
The Vodafone Group PLC unit is eyeing full 5G rollout across Ireland, including hard-to-reach rural locations, by end-2020, Dublin's The Irish Times reported.
The rollout follows Vodafone Group's launch of its 5G network in the U.K., which aims to reach 19 locations by year-end. The telecom giant also agreed to share its 5G networks in Britain with Telefónica SA unit Telefónica UK Ltd., or O2, as well as in Italy with Telecom Italia SpA.
