NV Energy seeks FERC approval to acquire remaining 25% stake in Nev. gas plant

NV Energy Inc.,through utility subsidiary NevadaPower Co., plans to acquire the remaining 25% stake it doesn't ownin the 520-MW (summer rating) Silverhawknatural gas-fired, combined-cycle facility in Clark County, Nev., from theSouthern Nevada Water Authority,according to an application filed with FERC on April 27.

FERC has been requested to issue an order on the deal on orbefore Aug. 1.

The deal's closure entails the termination of existingcontracts that allow the Southern Nevada Water Authority to receive 125 MW ofsystem power from NV Energy at the Mead hub, and grants NV Energy full controlof Silverhawk's output. Upon deal completion, NV Energy will retain control ofthe facility's output.
