Cochlear director to step down after 16 years

Cochlear Ltd. said Edward Byrne plans to retire as a nonexecutive director of the Australian healthcare company after 16 years of service.

Byrne, who joined the board of the Australian maker of ear implants in 2002, will step down at the company's annual meeting Oct. 16.

He will be replaced by Bruce Robinson, who joined the company in December 2016 to allow for an orderly transition.
