Steve Layden joined Richmond-based Virginia Commonwealth Bank, a unit of Bay Banks of Virginia Inc., as the director of business development and commercial and industrial lending for the Hampton Roads market.

Layden recently served as a senior commercial lender with Portsmouth, Va.-based TowneBank following TowneBank's merger with Monarch Bank in 2016.

Irvine, Calif.-based CBC Bancorp. unit Commercial Bank of California named Michael Helmuth and Claudia Bodan market president for Orange County and Los Angeles, respectively, the Orange County Business Journal reported.

Helmuth was a regional president at Community Bank, while Bodan was market manager and senior vice president at Bank of America Corp.

Atlanta-based SunTrust Banks Inc. appointed Jeff Lieberman to the new position of Greater Washington metropolitan market president, the Washington Business Journal reported.

Lieberman, who has been with the company since 2014, previously worked as a director in the financial sponsors group of SunTrust Robinson Humphrey.

R. Mitchell Theiss will join Rockefeller Capital Management as vice chairman of Rockefeller Strategic Advisory.

Theiss was most recently chairman of global industrials at Bank of America Merrill Lynch.
