Twitter Inc. plans to introduce a "pared-down" version of its social video sharing service, Vine, in January 2017.
The new version called Vine Camera will still allow users to make six-second looping videos, according to a Dec. 16 blog post. Users will also be able to post their video loops directly to Twitter, with a "Follow on Twitter" notification to be rolled out in the near future. Further, the new version will let users download Vines through the app or the website.
The microblogging service acquired Vine in 2013 for an undisclosed sum. Twitter in October announced that it was winding down Vine in the coming months. The company in November was reportedly looking to sell the video sharing service.
