The European Commission is set to launch a preliminaryinquiry in the week of Sept. 26 into the proposed £22 billion merger betweenLondon Stock Exchange GroupPlc and DeutscheBörse AG in response to competition , The Times of London reported Sept. 26.
The commission has until Sept. 28 to whether or not a fullinvestigation is needed. In the event that a full review is launched, financialinstitutions would have 90 days to submit their views to the commission,according to The Times.
The commission inquiry marks the final significant hurdle ofthe merger, which was announced in March.
