Liberian president appoints new central bank chief

Liberian President George Manneh Weah has named Nathaniel Patray as executive governor of the Central Bank of Liberia.

Patray succeeds Milton Weeks, who resigned from the position July 3. Weeks was appointed executive governor of the central bank by former President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf in April 2016.

The appointment is pending confirmation by the country's senate. Patray recently served as a governor of the central bank and has previously served as its executive director for administration.
