Samsung Renewable, Pattern Energy energize 100-MW Ontario wind facility

Samsung Renewable Energy Inc. and Pattern Energy Group LP have completed and energized their 100-MW Belle River wind facility in Ontario.

The 40-turbine project is committed to sell power to Ontario's Independent Electricity System Operator under a 20-year power purchase agreement, according to an Oct. 9 news release.

"Pattern Development continues to grow in Canada. This is the fifth wind power facility we have completed in Ontario – and seventh across Canada – totaling nearly 1.3 gigawatts of operational capacity in the country, and we expect another project to reach completion this year in Quebec," Pattern Energy CEO Mike Garland said in the release.

Samsung Renewable Energy is a unit Samsung Group.
