Disney-ABC to create shows for Snapchat

Disney-ABC Television Group entered into an agreement with Snap Inc. to produce original episodic shows for Snapchat.

The first Disney-ABC brand which will co-produce a series with Snapchat for Discovery is "The Bachelor." The new show, "Watch Party: The Bachelor" will debut on Jan. 3, 2017. The show will complement the ABC (US) series and show celebrities, comedians, fans and contestants from the TV series getting together each week to watch "The Bachelor."

"Watch Party: The Bachelor" will consist of 10 original episodes and one Live Story. The show will be available after the broadcast of each episode of "The Bachelor" and will remain live for 24 hours on Snapchat.

Disney-ABC also plans to debut other shows on Snapchat. Pursuant to the deal, Disney-ABC will develop and sell advertising packages that will incorporate Snapchat's video Snap Ads, according to a Dec. 21 news release.
