SMUD acquires 128-MW unit of Calif. wind farm

Sacramento Municipal Utility District has completed its acquisition of a 100% stake in unit 3 of the Solano Wind farm in Solano County, Calif., from a Citigroup Inc. affiliate, according to a May 16 regulatory filing.

The district, or SMUD, paid $31.7 million to acquire Solano Wind 3 from Citigroup, according to S&P Global Market Intelligence data. The project is connected to the California ISO grid through the Russell substation, which is owned by SMUD.

Unit 3 of the wind farm consists of 55 wind turbines with a capacity of 128 MW and reached commercial operation in April 2012.
