The said it will publishthe results of its 2016 stresstest for the seven major British banks and building societies Nov.30 and confirmed that the 2017 stress test will, for the first time, includetwo scenarios.
Barclays Plc, HSBC Holdings Plc, Lloyds Banking Group Plc, ,Santander UK Plc,Standard CharteredPlc and NationwideBuilding Society are taking part in the 2016 stress test and willalso participate in the two scenarios in the stress test the following year.
The BoE said it has received theseven companies' initial stress-testing submissions for 2016 and are in theprocess of analyzing the results. The central bank's Financial Policy Committeeand the Prudential Regulation Authority board will discuss the analysis overthe autumn, with final results to be disclosed to the companies Nov. 29.
The 2017 stress test will includethe annual cyclical scenario, which aims to assess the risks to the bankingsystem emanating from the financial cycle, as well as an additional so-calledexploratory scenario, which will aim to assess banks' resilience to a widerrange of potential threats. The BoE said it will publish the two scenarios inthe first quarter of 2017.
