Nuclear update: River Bend 1, Calvert Cliffs 2 ramp production

Total U.S. nuclear plant availability took another step forward early Aug. 3 to 97.83%, up from 97.17% on Aug. 2 and still holding above the 95.93% reported on the same day last year.

Helping to support U.S. output was a production rebound at two power plants. Entergy Corp.'s River Bend 1 in Louisiana was pegged at 89% early Aug. 3, up from 66% the day prior, and Unit 2 of the Calvert Cliffs plant in Maryland, which is owned by Exelon Corp. and EDF Group, saw production increase from 65% on Aug. 2 to 100% early Aug. 3.
