HSBC Holdings Plc has appointed executives from Goldman Sachs Group Inc. as it seeks to boost its equities business in Asia-Pacific, Bloomberg News reported, citing "people familiar with the matter."
The sources said HSBC named Michael Chandler, formerly Goldman Sachs' co-head of Asia-Pacific research sales, as its Asia-Pacific head of equity sales. It also hired Chito Jeyarajah "to help run its equity capital markets business in the region."
HSBC will also hire Martin Zoll as global head of corporate equity derivatives and equity-linked products around October-end, the sources added, noting that Zoll is an equity derivatives specialist at Goldman Sachs.
HSBC and Goldman Sachs spokespeople declined to comment, Bloomberg said.
