AppleInc. is working to launch a voice-controlled smart home device thatincorporates the company's Siri personal assistant software, Bloomberg Newsreported Sept. 23, citing sources familiar with the details.

The device, now in prototype testing, will allow voicecontrol of a range of appliances, locks, lights and curtains, the sources said.If ultimately launched, the device would compete with 's speaker, which allows voice-controlof compatible lights, switches and thermostats.
