Ameris reshuffles top execs

Nicole Stokes, Ameris Bank senior vice president and CFO, takes on the additional role of CFO at parent company Ameris Bancorp.

The change takes effect Jan. 1, 2018.

Stokes, who was also promoted to executive vice president, replaces Dennis Zember Jr.

Zember, in turn, will be Ameris Bank CEO after being the subsidiary's executive vice president and COO. At the parent company level, he keeps the titles of executive vice president and COO.

Edwin Hortman Jr., the current bank CEO, remains president and CEO of Ameris Bancorp and will become executive chairman of both Moultrie, Ga.-based entities. Chairman Daniel Jeter, meanwhile, has been named lead independent director.
