Report: SWIFT reveals more hacker attacks, urges caution

The SWIFT financial messaging system was hacked severaltimes over the summer, Reuters reported Sept. 26, citing the cooperative's CEO.

Gottfried Leibbrandt told the Sibos conference in Geneva thattwo banks had their security breached by hackers, while a third saw off asimilar attack.

SWIFT, which sends instructions for bank transfers, has comeunder the spotlight following an $81 million hack of Bangladesh Bank's account at the U.S. FederalReserve.

No money was lost in any of the attacks. SWIFT is set toissue a 16-point security check list to its customer banks to ensure adequatesecurity.
